Commissioned in 1921 as a World War I memorial, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum has since hosted numerous events, including the the first Super Bowl in 1967, the 1932 and 1984 Olympic Games, Nelson Mandela’s return to America, and Pope John Paul II’s 1987 Papal Mass, and concerts by artists like Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd. The Coliseum has been at the forefront of many significant events, and will continue to shape Los Angeles' historic landscape in the future.

The Challenge
With a yearlong celebration at our footsteps, we needed to a variety of ways to inject LAMC's established identity into each campaign. We worked alongside the LAMC marketing team to explore new visuals that reflect the pride and tradition of Coliseum’s enduring legacy.

A Song for the Ages
One of my major responsibiltiies this year involved creating a system of scalable multi-platform ads for the digital release of the LAMC celebration song, “We Came to Bring the Fire,” which debuted at the USC-Utah football game on October 21, 2023.

A large percentage of LAMC's advertising relies on social media, website, and email campaigns. Each program share common elements from LAMC's brand guidelines but utilizes unique layouts and assets to differentiate each campaign.

We collaborated with OOH printers to produce and install posters and banners in and around the LAMC stadium venue, promoting ongoing university programs, football games, and music events.

Print ads were also used to promote sporting events, music festivals held by The Torch, and celebrating historic and landmark events at the Coliseum. Notable publications included Iconos Magazine and Venues Now Magazine.

Large-format print and digital advertisements can be seen across the university campuses during game day events. In addition, LAMC promotional ads for graduation tours and commencement see the most use during the final weeks of the school semesters.

To celebrate one hundred years of history, the LAMC Department commissioned a special anniversary coin depicting the Coliseum and USC Football's induction into the Big Ten.
